**About The Role**:** Position Purpose**

As a key member of the finance team, this role takes ownership of all commercial finance, financial planning, financial analytics and management accounting. As the primary finance owner of the P&L, the role will support and drive business decision making, business partnering with senior stakeholders across the business. The position will lead and manage 1 qualified and part-qualified accountant and work closely with the financial control and purchase ledger teams. The role also works closely with the Data team to ensure that data and systems are used to deliver accurate financial information and the optimal level of business insight and business efficiency.

Principal Accountabilities

**Commercial Finance**
- Be the finance lead for key business functions, namely Buying, Merchandising, Operations, Customer and HR.
- Help to define and refine business KPIs ensuring they are monitored and understood across MandM.
- Drive and deliver commercial analytics across the P&L to support decision-making and identify opportunities / risks.
- Work closely with the Operations team to monitor and understand costs, KPIs, opportunities and risks.
- Oversee and own the finances of the EU warehouse operation ensuring 3PL performance is understood and MandM channel profitability is reported accurately.
- Support capex and opex requests including new contracts / contract renewals through investment appraisal including costs / benefits

**Business Planning**
- Ownership and preparation of budgets and forecasts, including bringing together all financial information.
- Lead update and refinement of MandM’s 5 year plan.
- Own cashflow reporting and forecasting working closely with the Financial arm of the team.
- Work with Buying & Merchandising around stock investment planning.

**Data, Systems & Tools**
- Drive the Finance team to utilise all available data tools to enhance effectiveness and work closely with the Data team to realise data opportunities impacting both Finance and the wider business.
- Enable the commercial finance team to use business data to drive informed decision-making and enhance processes and reconciliations
- Support definition and development of the finance systems roadmap
- Support longer-term finance project to replace current accounting system with more holistic ERP solution.

**Management Accounting**
- Ownership of the P&L and accountable for parts of the balance sheet.
- Management of the preparation, content and distribution of Management Accounts
- Oversee month end reporting, management accounts prep, Group and Board reporting.

**Governance**
- Ensure strong business-wide controls and adherence to delegated authorities and purchase order processes including spend limits
- Support investment appraisal process.

**People Leadership**
- Motivate and lead team members offering development and support for direct reports
- Ensure full day-to-day responsibilities are undertaken in an efficient and accurate manner
- Mentor high potential individuals within MandM.

**Other**
- Liaise with the auditors at year end and assist with the smooth completion of year-end processes
- Own Payment Provider analytics and accounting, liaising with Marketing and Data.
- Attend internal and external meetings to represent the department and/or Company
- Ensure good knowledge and understanding of accounting / taxation standards and maintain CPD.

**About You**:

- Qualified CIMA/ACCA or equivalent, with 5+ years PQE.
- Strong team leader who has developed individuals and managed performance
- Able to work on own initiative
- Excellent communication skills with experience of communicating at all levels within a business including regular presentations to Board members.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, modelling, planning
- Good knowledge of accounting standards
- High level of numeracy
- Excellent attention to detail
- Have strong finance systems experience including analytical tools
