**Purpose of Job**:
To maintain a wide range of production equipment as well as general maintenance and installation within the Company planned preventative maintenance system, on line fault finding and process development on a day to day basis with responsibility of workingon one’s own initiative during shifts, reporting to the Engineering Manager.

You will work on a 2 shift system on a 4 on 4 off rotation [05:30- 17:30 and 11:30-23:30] (this second shift might float out depending on customer demands throughout the year)

**Key Result Areas**:

- Responsible for ensuring personal day to day compliance with Health and Safety and legal and quality systems.
- Production Downtime kept to 2% or below through planned preventative maintenance and quick and efficient management of breakdowns.
- Involvement in projects, continuous improvement, and productivity improvement projects.
- Deliver maintenance programme in line with planned preventative maintenance vision.

**Principle Accountabilities/ Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Carrying out maintenance work with due diligence and in compliance with Health and Safety and legal and quality systems.
- Ensure that Engineering maintenance is carried out in line with the planned preventative maintenance system, scheduling and corrective action is taken when required. Booking of the work undertaken with duration and materials used.
- To deal with any unscheduled and emergency maintenance work, including all fault finding and necessary repair and striving to identify the root cause in each occasion. Booking of the duration, root cause and materials used.
- Communicating unscheduled downtime to the Lead Engineer, Engineering Manager or Production Manager and the corrective action required and root cause if this has been identified.
- Housekeeping. All works performed in a manner consistent with the high standards required in a food production environment.
- Responsible for ensuring the workshop and individual toolboxes are maintained to the highest standards and in line with Good Manufacturing Practise "GMP" standards
- Identification of improvements that can be made to production lines or individual machinery or other operations.
- Ensuring that engineering supplies requested as appropriate to engineering works being carried out.
- Dealing with day to day issues and identifying and delivering repair and maintenance as needs arise for them.
- Participation in continuous improvement/profit improvement projects/major project as required and directed.
- Conduct training of engineering and production staff in line with the company policies and procedures.
- Manage stock of supplies and equipment including obtaining any relevant specialist components, fixtures and fittings.
- Maintain statistical records as required by Engineering Manager.

**Dimensions: Limits of Authority & Financial Effects**:
Has the authority to stop a line operation if judged to be unsafe. Can request that appropriate Production staff are present when remedial work is undertaken in order to reduce production downtime.

- Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a responsible and safe manner at all times and in accordance with Company policies and practices.
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation at all times
- Working smarter to achieve minimum downtime.
- Engineering spend kept to a minimum.
**Technical or Special Knowledge, Experience or Training**:
**_Essential: _**

Qualified, multi-skilled engineer. Previous working experience gained in a manufacturing environment. The role requires an individual who has broad experience across the engineering field, with some gained in food manufacturing/processing. Self starter.PC literate.

**_Desirable:_**

Experience of Lean/continuous improvement type environment.

**_Any Other Requirements: _**

This role will require some flexibility and a high level of commitment. Must be able to work on own initiative and be a confident decision maker able to communicate at all levels of the organisation. Some unsocial hours working will be required as well ascall out to operational emergencies.
