Little Explorers Nursery provides the highest standard of nursery care and education to our wonderful families and children. We aim to give all our children the very best start in life. Nursery was rated "outstanding" by OFSTED in 2019 and has recently received a **5 star food hygiene rating**.

We are looking for a highly dedicated individual who is looking for the opportunity to be our **Nursery Cook working from 8-1.30/2pm Monday-Friday for 50 weeks a year.** You would be working alongside a kitchen assistant during our busier term time periods.

We are registered for **65 children** and offer children 3 meals a day with snacks and a home-cooked hot dinner.

**Purpose of post**

To organise, cook and prepare a healthy balanced diet for children from birth upwards.

**Responsible to**

Nursery Manager/Deputy Manager

**Main duties**
- To follow the nursery menus appropriately.
- To be capable of working in a busy environment and work as a team.
- To be responsible for the Tesco weekly orders and purchase of such provisions.
- To maintain adequate stores and food stuffs in appropriate storage containers.
- To meet the needs of all the children’s dietary requirements, including catering for food intolerances and allergies.
- To keep a recipe book listing ingredients in all the recipes, recognizing any food allergens and to update this monthly.
- To prepare and cook all the food.
- To co-ordinate the preparation, delivery and serving of breakfast, lunch and tea.
- To supply all rooms with fruit snacks and water jugs.
- To wash-up crockery, cutlery and all equipment used to prepare meals.
- To be responsible for hygiene and risk assessment within the kitchen area, including all record keeping relevant to the post, including the Safer Food, Better Business documentation.
- To be responsible for food safety within the nursery including all safety checks relating to food storage and preparation.
- To maintain an agreed high standard of hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen area.
- To clean and defrost freezer /fridge when necessary.
- To adhere to local Environmental Health requirements and liaise with representatives from Environmental Health when necessary.
- To be aware of COSHH standards.
- To carry out all the end of day checks relevant to post.
- To attend any courses or undertake any relevant training to the post including food hygiene and allergen training.
- To attend staff meetings out of hours when appropriate. (May 2023)

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 27.5 per week

**Salary**: £10.42 per hour
