**About the role**

You'll give housing advice, helping to prevent and relieve homelessness, and assess the housing need of customers wishing to join the council's Housing Register.

This role focusses on 16 to 17 year olds, and care leavers, who are at risk of homelessness. Wiltshire Council does all it can to prevent care leavers and young people from becoming homeless. The role sits in Housing Solutions but will work closely with Children In Care and Children’s Services, meeting Wiltshire’s young people's housing needs.

You'll interview and assess the Council’s statutory duties under the Homelessness Reduction Act and carry out initial interviews with young people and care leavers, making enquiries into their situation, to assess their needs and circumstances.

**About you**

You’ll be empathic, outcome-focussed and creative, with a commitment to working in partnership with internal and external contacts to ensure a high quality and efficient service.

Knowledge of landlord, tenant, allocations and homelessness law, policies and procedures, and experience of managing a demanding caseload and investigations is preferable.

You will be agile, customer-orientated and highly literate, with excellent communication, organisational and IT skills.
