We are looking for a motivated and passionate Peer Support Worker to join the East London Community Forensic Service team. Applicants must have the East London NHS Trust Peer Support Worker accreditation, and be committed to delivering high quality peer support to our service users.

Applicants should be able to work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, facilitating client-centred activities which inspire hope, control and opportunity for service users within the Forensic service, who are working towards, or who have already made, the transition from hospital into the community. They will need to be effective communicators, who are able to work proactively as part of the local team and also as Ambassadors of Recovery, working with other Trust Recovery Champions, external agencies and partner organisation

Through sharing aspects of their own lived experience of mental health challenges and of accessing services, the Peer Support Workers will inspire hope and the belief that recovery is possible in others.

1. To work as an integral and highly valued member of the East London Community Forensic Service's multi disciplinary team. You will be facilitating client-centred activities which inspire hope, control and opportunity for services users who are working towards, or who have already made, the transition from hospital into the community.
2. Through sharing aspects of their own lived experience of mental health challenges and of accessing services, the Peer Support Worker (PSW) will inspire hope and the belief that recovery is possible in others. This will include working with service users who have issues with addiction, and/or dual diagnosis.
3. To get to know the service users who are under the care of the team, and to understand their recovery goals in order to improve their quality of life and to support them to do the things they want to do and live the life they want to lead, especially in relation to recovery from addiction and dual diagnosis.
4. The post holder will develop relationships based on mutuality so they can facilitate and support information sharing to promote choice, self
- determination and opportunities for the fulfillment of socially valued roles.
5. The PSW will act as an ambassador of Recovery with other Trust Recovery Champions, working with external agencies and partner organisations.
