An opportunity has arisen for a Medical Receptionist to join our friendly and progressive team at Churchfields Surgery.

Our busy and forward-thinking practice is based in the centre of Bromsgrove, where our staff are at the core of what we do, and training and development is encouraged.

Our medical receptionist team are the first point of contact for patients and visitors to the practice both in person and on the phone. They direct and assist them in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional, as well as helping with enquiries. The team also aid the wider practice team: our GP’s, Nurses, and administrative staff.

As this is a patient-facing role, you must have strong customer service skills, be an effective communicator (both face to face and on the phone) and have experience of working in a reception environment.

This position will be Monday to Friday, working 26 hours per week.

**Main duties of the job include**:

- Act as the first point of contact for patients, providing general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
- Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
- Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
- Complete tasks sent into Reception by the clinicians and other members of staff.
- Enter patient information on to the computer as required.
- Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately.
- Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

**Person Specification**

**Experience**

**Essential**:
Experience of Reception work, dealing with the public in a pressurised context.

Experience of telephone call management, managing demand across peaks as and when they arise.

Working within an administrative function.

**Desirable**:
Experience of Primary Care / GP Reception.

**Qualifications**

**Essential**:
Educated to GCSE Level or equivalent, including GCSE English Language.

**Desirable**:
Evidence of vocational training relevant to Reception.

**Knowledge and Skills**

**Essential**:
Highly organised with the ability to plan and prioritise.

Evidence of basic keyboard and computer skills to include Word, Excel, etc.

Excellent communication and inter-personal skills to include the ability to communicate clearly with all levels of staff.

Evidence of time management skills.

**Desirable**:
Experience using and interrogating NHS system software (Emis Web etc.)

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £10.42 per hour
