Environmental Advisor

**About the role**
The Environmental Advisor role sits within the multi-disciplinary Environment and Sustainability Team. The M25 DBFO, despite being one of the busiest motorways in Europe, comprises a huge, connected area of primarily wild verge habitat which provides valuable habitat for a wide range of biodiversity. We can play a vital role by ensuring that the environmental assessments of the schemes minimise the impact we are having on the verges and take opportunities to improve ecological habitats through biodiversity net gain.

This role also plays a crucial part managing our GIS system, updating our systems for capturing and recording results of site visits and managing our ecological and landscape data

**What you'll be doing**
- Undertake Simple and Detailed environmental assessments
- Organise and undertake Environmental Depot Audits
- Collate scheme As-built & Biodiversity Net Gain data for CPS database
- To undertake other Environmental Team tasks as required
- GIS Activities:

- Manage EnvIS GIS system and quarterly updates to National Highways
- Manage environmental geospatial information using ArcGIS Desktop/Pro, Online and Collector, including the Asset Management System
- Management of Soft Estate mobile inspection software (Esri Field Maps)
- To update and maintain the Environmental Asset Database (GIS) with survey findings (EMI), e.g. record both proposed and completed works to the Soft Estate
- Ensure quarterly EnvIS data submissions to National Highways are completed as required
Work with Arboriculture/Landscape Team to report outputs from surveys
- GIS data cleansing as required
- Map production and assistance with Environmental Designated Funding
- Data Management of environmental and third party mapping datasets
- Environmental Mapping - e.g. vulnerable sites, flooding hotspots, litter/fly tipping
- Provide Mentoring to Environmental Apprentice

**Who we're looking for**
- Understanding of the Environmental Impact Assessment process
- Knowledge of ISO14001 and Environmental Management Systems
- Good plant identification skills or willingness to develop them
- Understanding of the use of Geodatabases
- Understanding of Data Management strategies and standards
- Basic programming and query language experience (e.g. Javascript, Python, Arcade, SQL, VB)
- Able to use cartographic, GIS and data visualisation skills
- Full UK driving licence _(essential)_
- Member of relevant professional organisation, e.g. Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM )
