**RESPONSIBLE FOR**

Day-to-day leadership of PASC Team Workers and Semi-Skilled Team Workers as appropriate.

**JOB PURPOSE**

To undertake works primarily street cleansing/engineering work in public places, parks, landscaped areas, open spaces and cemeteries.

To work closely with the PASC manager and supervisors to assist with the general running of all weekly operations, which may include team leading others.

**MAIN DUTIES OF THE POST**

The post holder will be expected to undertake a wide range of duties which could include but are not limited to:
**GENERAL**
- Undertake sweeping, cleansing or grounds maintenance works as directed, including the use of any small plant, mechanical equipment and manual equipment such as litter pickers, litter barrows and brushes.
- Drive and operate any allocated large plant, machinery, or vehicle.
- When driving in vehicles that use mobile data technology then you will be responsible for the use of this equipment to effectively monitor and record work and to ensure that services are delivered efficiently. You may be required to drive vehicles in any team and whilst doing so you will also be responsible for:
Complete pre-shift and after-shift vehicle checks.

Report all competed streets

Blocked access to streets

The collection of assisted collection

Ensuring that missed bin collection have been collected

Dealing appropriately with contaminated bins (and making correct record)

Noting of bins that are not out

Excess Waste (noting)

Damaged or lost Wheeled bins and containers (noting and making arrangement to resolve the issue)

Bulky Waste items collected

Non collection of Bulky Waste

Delivery of Wheeled bin and Boxes
- Interpret and complete allocated work sheets
- Team lead any PASC operations as required by the PASC manager
- Maintain vehicles and plant in a clean and tidy condition including weekly vehicle washing. Ensure vehicle is secure at end of each day.
- Carry out routine checks and maintenance on vehicles and equipment on a daily basis in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Minor servicing and maintaining or the replacing Gutter/Gulley and wide Sweep Cylinder brushes.
- Complete all paperwork as required including reporting any vehicle damage or defects to the Workshop.
- To check all team-assigned equipment daily and report any faults or damage.
- Complete all work required efficiently, to required standards, and in accordance with all relevant regulations.
- Any other duties that may be delegated by the supervisors or manager.

**ADDITIONAL STREET CLEANSING DUTIES/ENGINEERING WORKS**
- Work on any required cleansing activities as directed, including that of cleansing central reservations, ‘A’ and rural roads.
- Using the appropriate equipment, to remove graffiti and chewing gum from surfaces as directed by supervisory staff.
- Lock public conveniences and ensure stock of materials are adequate and facilities are in serviceable use
- Litter pick and remove dog fouling
- Clean public conveniences
- Assist in the removal of fly-tips as required
- Fitting road signs
- Assisting with playground repairs and maintenance

**LEADERSHIP OF PASC STAFF**
- Responsibility for running a small team as and when required
- Ensure that all work required each day is completed to acceptable standards.

**HEALTH AND SAFETY**
- Responsibility for all public and staff safety when leading others.
- Comply with all Health and safety requirements, including statutory requirements.
- Ensure that appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and Clothing (including safety boots and reflective vests) are worn for all tasks by all staff.

**Guidelines and Conduct**
- All employees must be properly dressed in protective work wear or similar as provided by Gedling Borough Council procedures.
- Employees must exhibit a caring and courteous attitude and adopt a helpful manner when dealing with members of the public.
- Employees must show respect for the public, and for equipment, facilities, and any vehicles assigned to them.
- Employees must be aware of the procedures specified in the Gedling Borough Council Handbook.
- Employees must be aware of all Parks and Street Cleansing procedures.
- Employees must ensure that all staff working under your supervision are carrying out quality work with due regard for all Health and Safety requirements.
- Employees must not use any Council vehicles outside of working hours without prior authorisation, and must not carry unauthorised passengers.
- Employees must report any misdemeanours or accidents to the manager as soon as is practical on the day of the incident.
- Responsible for the appropriate conduct of others under the post holder’s supervision.

**HOURS**

37 plus two hours contractual overtime
