By focusing on building resilience, we are tackling deprivation and creating a more prosperous future for our residents. The borough aims to transform the lives of people in Newham and make it a place where people choose to live, work and stay.

The London borough of Newham is working to ensure Newham is a place where there is greater investment in public spaces, more opportunities for younger people, more jobs and a decrease in benefit dependency, quality housing for residents, a greater choice when accessing council services and high quality health care delivered around individual needs.

**About the Job**

The job title of Newham Apprentice applies to all of the apprentices hired as part of the Newham Apprenticeship Scheme. Each apprentice will be a member of a specific functional team, although they will be expected to work in a flexible manner and carry out appropriate work in other teams when necessary to meet service objectives.

The Newham Apprenticeship Scheme offers an opportunity for you to start an exciting new career, whether it is your first job, returning to work after a career break, or you are looking for a change in career direction.

Earn as you learn whilst working alongside experienced colleagues who will help you to develop the skills the council needs. There are even opportunities to progress to a higher or degree level apprenticeship in the future, avoiding tuition fees and potential student debt.

- Organisational skills with the ability to focus on achieving targets.
