Here at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, the East Anglian Regional Radiation Protection Service (EARRPS), are currently looking for an apprentice healthcare science practitioner to join our team. This three-year apprenticeship will be delivered by the University of West England (UWE) leading to a BSc (Hons) Healthcare Science - Radiation Physics degree. Practical training to support this apprenticeship will be based in Cambridge.

Main duties of the job

Alongside your studies you will assist in the provision of high quality radiation protection services to users of x-ray systems, sealed and unsealed radioactive sources, and non-ionising radiation. This includes the intercomparison and calibration of radiation detectors, performance of quality assurance tests on x-ray imaging equipment, and advising customers on compliance with regulatory requirements in relation to radiation safety.

You should have excellent verbal and written communication skills to support work with clients from a wide range of backgrounds. You will be required to travel throughout the region and should have good organisational skills and a passion for service delivery.

Residency in the UK for at minimum 3 years

Any non UK resident applicant must hold a right to work and remain to support a 3 year degree apprenticeship (which is not due to expire during this time)
