**The Department**

The Party Wall & Neighbourly Matters department at GIA is a close-knit team of 11, who meet on a regular basis for team catch-ups and socials. The team has been involved in some iconic projects and high-end developments, both on residential and commercial sites, predominantly in and around the London area.

**The Role**

The primary role of a Gradate Surveyor is to assist the wider Party Wall & Neighbourly Matters team. This will involve the inspection of neighbouring properties and preparation of schedule of condition reports amongst other associated works.

**Duties Include**
- Researching HM Land Registry for title documents and other sources to obtain information about land ownership;
- Reviewing and analysing construction drawings to identify relevant Party Wall and neighbourly matters;
- Preparation of information schedules and tracking documents / Adjoining Owner schedules;
- General correspondence with clients, design and construction teams, opposing surveyors, and various other parties;
- Attendance at and contribution to meetings (both in person and virtual);
- Preparation and service of Party Wall Notices and other such documents;
- Assisting with the negotiation of Party Wall Awards and other legal documents (such as scaffold and crane licences);
- Co-ordination and undertaking of inspections and preparation of schedule of condition reports (photographic / dictated);
- Assessment and consideration of damage and likely causation;
- Work on and utilise complex spreadsheets (i.e. for document generation);
- Assist with the preparation of breakdown of time / fees, and justify costs to clients / opposing surveyors;
- Assist with monthly billing activities and the raising of invoices;
- Diary and time management and recording of daily timesheets.

**Required Attributes**
- Educated to degree level, ideally with prior work experience in a professional environment;
- Ability to demonstrate a real passion and interest in the property / construction industry;
- Advanced capabilities in the use of Microsoft Excel (with an understanding of the use of advanced formulas, conditional formatting and although not a requirement, some knowledge and understanding of VBA would be beneficial);
- Some knowledge of AutoCAD would be beneficial, but not essential;
- Happy to have their working days split between office-based activities, and site based / inspections of land and properties;
- Happy to record condition schedules by way of dictation in front of other surveyors and owners;
- Confident and charismatic, with an ability to represent the company at meetings (in person and online) and events;
- A quick learner, willing to take notes and to refer back to these to ensure that any information shared is implemented;
- Ideally lives in or within an easy commute of London, in order to pick up and service last minute inspections / meetings etc;
- A clear and confident communicator, both written and verbal;
- Having a professional manner with excellent client facing skills;
- Good with numbers and able to carry out complex calculations (such as when considering compensation costs due to a party, and also when considering internally matters such as billing and budgeting);
- Be comfortable operating in situations of conflict / dispute (i.e. between owners, surveyors etc.);
- Punctual and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider team;
- An ability to work under pressure, to manage own time and workload, and adapt to meet changing deadlines.

**Salary**: £22,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
