1 x 22 hr Night Shift Switchboard Operator
Looking for a new challenge? Our busy Switchboard requires a highly motivated, innovative, proactive person.
You must be an effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
The post holder will enable the switchboard and all other services allied to the telecommunications requirements to be operational 24 hours a day 7 days a week and including emergency alarm procedures, bleep and paging services. Including an on call service
To communicate effectively with patients, work colleagues and visitors throughout the process of delivery of the service and at all times respecting dignity and confidentiality.
Substantive posts will work on a rota system. Both substantive and bank posts are required to cover for annual leave and sick leave in order to ensure continuity of service.

Dealing with routine and none routine emergency calls from clinical areas requiring judgement to activate medical group alerts.
Compliance with policies and procedures
Completion of mandatory training and relevant departmental training. Uses own initiative when carrying out duties ensuring standards are met.
Operating the internal paging system for routine and emergency & crash calls, Programming bleeps, initially under direction of the supervisor.
Take an active role in major incident procedures and the routine testing of these procedures
Monitoring/ managing a variety of alarm systems
To assist if required with the training of new staff within the department
Arrange and record all taxis booked on behalf of the trust, co-ordinating as and when necessary
Recording all private calls made through the telephone exchange
Manning the hospital help desk 24/7 taking calls, ensuring they are logged and assigned to the correct department using the online system
Familiarisation and usage in a computer based directory/ information system
