**Transport Planner**
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Transport Planner to join our team based at our Leeds, Wortley site.
**Purpose of the role**
The Transport Planner is responsible for planning and coordinating the transport network across Torque, including through the night operation, ensuring the successful movement of UK and International product, in and around the UK to our customers, suppliers and sites. The Transport Planner plans and deploys the resource in the most cost-effective way to meet the needs of the customer decision.
**Main duties and responsibilities**
- Effectively plan and control the transport resource in accordance with service levels for each contract. Ensuring that you liaise with the Transport Manager to arrange staffing scheduled to meet customer needs.
- Regularly evaluate delivery routes and schedules to make necessary amendments to avoid delays to our service.
- Work closely with the transport team to communicate information to drivers regarding planned workload.
- Ensure accurate administration of Transport documents including but not limited to; Timesheets, Vehicle Schedules, Load Plans and Costings.
- Ensuring the sites have processed deliveries load accurately and escalate any issues to the relevant manager.
- Assist the Transport Manager with site security procedures and checks.
- Ensure vehicle and process pre-checks are completed and coordinate solutions to rectify any issues or appropriately escalate.
- Ensure any additional equipment required is available and loaded on-to vehicles in a timely manner.
- Proactively plan mandatory training for the Transport department and assist with the delivery of the training to our drivers.
- Assist with the checking of vehicle performance and recording vehicle and driver data
- Be responsible for incident and accident reporting and control, ensuring completion of accident investigations, Health and Safety Documentation on the Health and Safety System and accurate paperwork for any regulatory bodies.
- Ensure any risks to our service are highlighted and resolved or escalated to the relevant manager.
- Provide a flexible approach to out of hours cover where necessary.
**Person specification**
- A good level of literacy and numeracy
- Knowledgeable of current transportation and health and safety regulations
- IT skills (Microsoft Office and Transport Systems)
- An understanding of current health and safety regulations
- Understanding of basic employment law
- A flexible approach to work and the ability to work with changing demands (including shift patterns)
- Good understanding of route planning/optimisation
- Ability to work in a pressurised environment
**Shift pattern**:
- Monday to Friday between 09:00-17:30hrs
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
