We are looking for someone who can forge excellent relationships across all levels of governance and bring real organisational flair to managing our governance support processes.

BWMAT is one of the South West region’s largest school trusts, with 37 primary schools at present. This number is growing.

The role of Governance Manager will provide professional advice, guidance and administrative support to the Board of Trustees and its committees in the discharge of the Trust’s constitutional, procedural and regulatory duties. You will be responsible for minuting Board and Committee meetings and ensuring that Trustees are supported and advised in all aspects of their roles.

Your knowledge of statutory and legal requirements around governance will ensure our Board and Committees are compliant and well informed. You will be brave and curious and not afraid to challenge the status-quo or accepted norms when providing specialist support and solutions. You will be keen to develop ways of working that support the Trust’s continued growth whilst ensuring that quality and excellence are at the heart of all we do. You will have the ability to handle complex situations with attention to detail and to prioritise and delegate in a fast-changing environment.

You will also lead a developing team of Governance Officers who provide professional advice and support to schools, including clerking, through schools’ Local Governance Committees. You will develop and maintain excellent working relationships with the Trust’s key stakeholders and build networks that will support the ongoing development of effective governance across the Trust.

You will work directly to the Director of Governance who oversees the strategic development of governance in the Trust. This role is offered on a home working basis. There will be some Trust wide travel.

Salary from £38296 to £41496 per year (full time)
