**Job Summary**

This post is open to female staff only as it involves personal care. Occupational Requirement (Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9 Part I)
This is an opportunity to work on a one-to-one basis with S as part of a small team. S will receive support most weekday mornings with very occasional weekends required. S may also like to receive more support to on an ad-hoc basis - to be arranged when mutually convenient.
At present we are recruiting for a part-time support worker to provide 18 hours one week, and 12 hours the next week (based on a fortnightly rolling rota).
The hours are required every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 7am-1pm and every alternate Monday morning 7am-1pm. There may sometimes be a very occasional need to work weekends or nights (for example if S has required an operation). You may also be expected to provide additional support, or change working days at times, to cover for staff sickness or annual leave.
S is a woman in her 60s who was involved in a serious road traffic accident, causing severe orthopaedic injuries and traumatic brain injury. As a result of these injuries, S has communication and memory problems as well as some physical difficulties, all of which limit her confidence and her ability to live life independently.
S has said she is looking for a support worker with a good sense of humour (she likes a bit of banter), who is reliable, dependable, experienced and someone who she can trust to be her companion.
S currently lives with her brother in her own bungalow in the NR6 area of Norwich. S has a dog currently and has a great love of animals.
S is looking for a support worker who can assist with daily tasks but also act as a companion who she can spend time with at home and visiting local places. S has a great sense of humour, but she can feel low and does experience frustrations about the limitations on her independence imposed on her by her injuries. Sometimes it helps her to have someone she trusts, who she can talk to. Sometimes S’s frustrations can cause her to be outspoken and angry at times. S needs her support worker to know that when she is frustrated or angry, she may want to be left alone for a short while and would not want the support worker to take this personally. S has very clear ideas of what she expects from her support worker, and her choices and decisions need to be respected.

**Pay & Benefits**

**Pay Rate**:

- £15.00 per hour during weekday daytime hours (between 7am-10pm)
- £15.50 per hour during weekend daytime hours (between 7am-10pm)
- £83.70 per weekday night sleeps (between 10pm-7am)
- £85.50 per weekend night sleeps (between 10pm-7am)
**Other Benefits**
- 5.6 weeks paid annual leave pro rata. The leave year runs from January to December.
- Auto enrolment in a workplace pension scheme as applicable.
- At least double pay if required to work Bank Holidays.
- Pay to attend supervision/team meetings.
- Pay and expenses when required to attend training courses as requested by employer.
- Annual review of pay rates.
- Mileage at 40p per mile, for all business mileage.
**Training**
A full induction programme plus regular support, supervision and ongoing training will be provided.
**Working Environment**
S lives in her own bungalow, with her brother. They have a dog and may in future want another cat and therefore all applicants must be comfortable working in an environment with cats and dogs. The support worker will be working with S at her home and in the local community.
S is a smoker and therefore staff will be exposed to smoke in the workplace. S only smokes outside. Staff are not permitted to smoke under any circumstance while in the workplace.
