Mill Supervisor

The Long Whatton mill has several support functions in place to ensure materials are made available for processing in the mill and to complete some added value work to meet the customer needs.

Scope:

- Each mill process requires timber picking for feeding in to the milling machine in a timely manner to ensure there is no disruption to the flow of material
- Each mill function needs processed materials checking to ensure tally accuracy, removing from the mill function to ensure consistent flow of material putting in to the correct stocking location, effectively and accurately to ensure physical locations match the system location.
- Added value activities occur in the Cross-Cut area which require product picking from stock, transferring from the main mill activities and processing out to stock or the next in-line activity

Primary Responsibilities:

- Supervise a mix of FLT drivers, X-Cut operators and Labourers to ensure materials are available and removed in a timely manner in support of the efficient operating of mill machinery
- Ensure the accuracy of all material moves around the site and within the IT system.
- Ensure quality control is in place, utilised and effective for all activities under this supervision.
- Supporting the skills and development of all support staff
- Maintaining safe working practice in their areas of responsibility and all areas where their teams roles cross over
- Holiday, absence and people performance management
- Supporting the other functions around Long Whatton that support customer service activities

Qualifications/Experience:

- FLT Licence - required
- Timber Knowledge
- required
- Team Leading - minimum 3 years - required
- Team Leader/Supervisor qualification - preferred
