**Pickfords **are looking for a **Driver/Porter** to lead and manage a team of motivated workers, ensuring the safe loading of vehicles or storage containers.

**JOB PURPOSE**:

- To carry out the daily delivery and collection of full and part house moves. Undertake all associated moves tasks to ensure successful job completion, maintain all elements of the delivery and collection process.
- To deliver a high-quality service at all times and meet required standards of Pickfords.
- Accurately record any changes to the delivery and collection information in accordance with current procedure.
- Assist in other areas of Pickfords activity as required such as stores and general housekeeping duties.
- Assist in other areas of Pickfords activity as required.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- The safe and successful completion of any relocation tasks included but no limited to full house moves, part house moves, wharf issues, stores and general housekeeping activities.
- To assist in other areas of Pickfords activity (such as office moves) as and when required.
- Carry out point of work risk assessments as required.
- Follow daily job instructions, update and complete job paperwork as necessary, return immediately to operations department following each day of work.
- Assist in loading and unloading of vehicles in a manner which will ensure the safety of the crew, the items being loaded, the vehicle and equipment.
- Following appropriated training act as a banksman during vehicle reversing and confined space manoeuvres.
- Operate the vehicle tail lift with safety protocols and Company rules.
- Carry out basic furniture maintenance duties from time to time as required.
- Carry out the safe assembly and dis-assembly of flat pack furniture, following manufactures instructions at all times.
- Sign for, take care of and return, in line with current Company procedures. All Company equipment.
- Identify and report on areas to improve operations and service efficiency.

**DRIVER RESPONSIBILITIES**
- As a driver you are required to understand and comply with current legislations relating to EU drivers hours and regulations to ensure accurate use of tachograph recording equipment (digital and analogue), including the retention of appropriate records of activity.
- You must obey current UK traffic regulations including speed limits. This includes adhering to parking regulations where practical.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks (walk around) in accordance with the VOSA Minimum requirements (a checklist will be provided).
- Comply with defects reporting procedures.
- Ensure the vehicle is in a safe condition for use.
- Always drive with due care and attention and respect all other road users.
- Pay particular care when near cyclists.
- Always park in a safe position with due regard for other road users and pedestrians.
- Before reversing or carrying out manoeuvres in a confined or difficult space always use a banksman where possible to help guide you.
- Comply with safe loading procedures.
- Always check the vehicle is equipped to carry out the day’s activities.
- Keep the vehicle clean and tidy.
- When parking the vehicle in preparation for loading / unloading ensure the vehicle is stable and level to facilitate the safe use of the tail lift, the security of the load and safety to others.
- Use the tail lift correctly and safely in accordance to procedures.
- Ensure all items are fully protected using transit blankets and other protective materials as necessary.
- When loading wheeled or other mobile items using tail lift platform ensure the load is stable and secure before operation.
- During loading prioritise the safety of the load by always using protective materials to prevent damage.

**TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT**
- Attend appropriate training and development courses to improve enhance service delivery.
- Following attendance on training courses, always look to improve what you have learnt.

**SPECIAL RECRUITMENTS AND COMPETENCIES**

This role requires the person to have the following:

- Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC)
- Category C1 Driving Licence.
- Manual handling skills.
- Customer service skills.
- Health & safety awareness.
- Safe vehicle loading.
- Risk assessment knowledge.
- Banksmen trained
- Use of vehicle tail lift.
