**Role Overview**

The role of Counsellor is to provide client-focused counselling to our service users - young people aged between 16 and 25 years old. As counsellor you will be based from our new premises in Newtown. This is an opportunity to become part of Rekindle’s team on a flexible self-employed basis. While work would be agreed to on a case-by-case basis, a commitment is required from a counsellor to support the duration of clients counselling process; encompassing our values of always putting our clients first. Mentoring and Supervision will be provided by Rekindle.

**Key Responsibilities**

1. To effectively deliver one-to-one counselling support for young people from across Mid Wales and Shropshire Borders. This support will usually be delivered face to face however to suit our service users we deliver a blend of remote and face to face services.

2. To work closely with the Lead Counsellor and support the effectiveness of the counselling service

3. To communicate with referral sources and/or other relevant professionals as needed in order to co-ordinate effective counselling provision for our service users.

4. Assess, monitor and manage risk through regular outcome assessments.

5. Demonstrate systematic case management and record keeping.

6. To comply with client confidentiality and data protection as appropriate.

7. Participate in all internal Rekindle management systems including workload management and service evaluation and monitoring processes.

8. Comply with the BACP, NCS or equivalent code of practice and Rekindle’s policies and procedures.

9. Protect vulnerable groups and individuals from abuse in accordance with Rekindle’s safeguarding policy and procedures.

10. Exercise judgement and initiative, taking personal responsibility and accountability for your own practice.

11. Raise awareness and increase the profile of the Counselling Service amongst professionals, young people and parents and challenge the stigma associated with mental illness.

12. Actively promote Rekindle’s values.

**Skills and Experience**

**Essential**
- Professionally recognised Diploma in Counselling / Psychotherapy or equivalent
- Hold and maintain membership of BACP, NCS or other recognised body
- Must hold valid and appropriate insurance to provide counselling
- Successful applicants will have to undergo an enhanced DBS check. A satisfactory check will be required before any counsellor start work with clients
- Knowledge of mental health illness and associated issues understanding of the difficulties faced by people with mental ill health
- Excellent communications skills (verbal and written)
- Good therapeutic-focused inter-personal skills
- An ability and willingness to deliver remote/virtual counselling
