Welfare Support Coordinator

Our client provides hostel accommodation and support for vulnerable service users and are recruiting for a **Welfare Support Coordinator**for their Wakefield based hostel.
As part of the management team, you will ensure services are delivered in accordance with company standards and policies & procedures and in line with contractual and legal requirements at all times. This post has responsibility to lead in the area of safeguardingand wellbeing of our service users as well as deputising for the Deputy Manager in their absence You will deliver and coordinate activities run by external agencies for the benefit of the service users and ensure all activities are delivered in accordancewith company standards and policies at all times.

**Responsibilities include**:
- Pro-actively support the wellbeing of all service users
- Co-ordinate and deliver activities for service users to promote positive cohesion and wellbeing.
- Be a point of contact for groups and volunteers coming into the hostel to run activities ensuring all onsite activities are appropriately organised, supervised and have been appropriately risk assessed.
- Respond to, record, and maintain all safeguarding and wellbeing concerns on appropriate documentation that can be fully audited in line with Company policies, contractual and legal obligations.
- Ensure that the hostel accommodation is a safe environment.
- Have a working knowledge of all areas of the hostel and work as part of our team to meet all contractual requirements including KPIs.
- Work with service users who are identified as vulnerable. Providing advice and referrals to appropriate external service providers.
- Ensure that accurate records of contacts and referrals are maintained.
- Providing crucial on-going support to service users.
- Work with service users in a professional manner treating them with dignity and respect and deal with difficult or problematic situations in a sensitive manner.
- Monitor procedures to ensure that the service users are informed of their rights, fully inducted into the hostel accommodation and understand all emergency procedures including who to contact if they require further support.
- Ensure that the Customer Service & Safety Officers team support services users with complaints & compliments effectively.
- Be part of the on-call rota in order to maintain service delivery and respond to any urgent out of hour issues.
- Ensure that health and safety issues are monitored effectively, undertaking risk assessments and compiling incident reports as required.
- Ensure that all financial procedures are followed effectively, and that payments are correctly authorised.
- In the absence of the deputy manager you may be required to motivate, manage, train, appraise and develop staff and volunteers.
- Maintain a general knowledge of legislation and regulations relating to all aspects of Asylum & Immigration.
- Support the Hostel Management Team to develop and sustain effective working relations with local authorities, statutory authorities, and other appropriate organisations in order to foster a positive image of the value of supporting Asylum Seekers.
- Provide reporting systems as requested by the Hostel Manager and/or other senior managers and to attend regular review meetings.

**About you**:
- Management qualification or relevant experience.
- Social Care qualification or relevant experience.
- Experience of co-ordinating activities and services.
- Experience of working with vulnerable people.
- Experience of dealing with service user safeguarding and wellbeing concerns.
- Experience of monitoring standards and contributing to the development of service provision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven track record of dealing with people on all levels and from differing backgrounds/cultures.
- Ability to work in a pressurised environment.
- Ability to understand, interpret and advise through practical problem solving. Good working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and regulations.
Experience of working with Asylum Seekers in a social housing setting would be advantageous.
