Orka Financial is currently recruiting for a part-time Finance Manager, to join a charity near Reading, for a 6 month role, with the possibility of becoming permanent. This role is likely to be around 3 days per week.
**PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
1. To manage all charity finances in line with all legal statutory regulations, producing monthly management accounts and presenting these to the Board of Trustees
2. To work with the executive team to develop the finance strategies for the Centre. Develop policies and procedures to enact this strategy ensuring that these are communicated to all appropriate parties.
3. To identify the key cost and investment drivers for department budget holders.
4. To support with commercial insight, governance and analysis for the Centre to be able to plan and invest in order to help with delivery of Charity objectives.
5. To support budget holders and fundraisers with analysis and insight for funding propositions to drive return on investment and identify the most appropriate funding opportunities for delivery on business needs, contractual obligations and objectives.
6. To support budget holders to provide commercial and technical advice around financial controls and budget management
7. To engage with budget holders regularly to maintain and understand operating actives and performance against contracts
8. To identify any accruals, prepayments or provisions and ensure these are reflected promptly in the ledgers.
9. To report on all revenue streams within the Charity and work with the Executive team and operational teams to analyse and optimise revenue against delivery and investment activity.
10. To monitor and advise on expenditure on capital budgets in line with the budget
11. To monitor changes in relevant legislation and regulatory environment and taking appropriate action, advising Trustees and Executive team of the legal governance, accounting and tax implications
12. To prepare and produce statutory accounts
13. To lead and liaise with external Auditors, tax advisors, HMRC, insurance brokers, pension brokers, bank
14. To support with reviewing and analysing monthly payroll submissions and approval
15. To regularly review contracts with suppliers, utility providers ensuring best value for money
**PROFILE OF JOB HOLDER**:
Essential
- Qualified Accountant
- Advanced Excel and ability to develop financial models
- Ability to present financial information to budget holders and non-finance colleagues
- Ability to deliver training to finance and non-finance colleagues
- Experience of management accounting, preparing financial statements
- Experience of preparing complex forecasts and budgets and ability to critically review financial performance, challenge budget holders
- Experience of analysing risks and opportunities
Desirable
- Experience of payroll and pension
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and governance for a charity
- IT skills at a level to support report writing incorporating complex financial data
