Yard Foreman

Otford Builders Merchants has an excellent opportunity for an experience Yard Foreman to join the team. This role is based in Otford, Sevenoaks

As a Yard Foreman you will be managing the operations of the yard and all personnel. Ensuring yard personnel adhere to policies on timekeeping, sickness reporting and any other relevant procedures as well as unloading of materials, receiving and checking against orders, data entry and paperwork, track the materials and equipment on site.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the following duties;
- Lead the yard team to ensure all processes are working effectively & efficiently
- Proactively manage the performance of all team members to achieve the best results for the Company and individual personal development
- Responsible for managing security of yard & warehouses
- Work with the Branch Manager to implement and manage Company policies with the yard team
- Ensure company vehicles are loaded correctly and despatched promptly each day
- Ensure supplier deliveries are correct in accordance with expected stock and goods-in paperwork is passed to the Stock Controller in accordance with the Stock Management Policy
- Maintain excellent standards of house-keeping throughout the yard and warehouse store areas
- Ensure all customers are served by a member of team on production of the appropriate paperwork and that no customer is left to “help themselves”
- Carry out a daily walkaround of yard and report any concerns to the Branch Manager
- Work with the Branch Manager & Procurement team to ensure yard stock levels are maintained in accordance with agreed stock level holdings paying attention to seasonality and demand
- Assist with rolling stock checks to ensure system stock levels are accurate
- Ensure all yard and warehouse stock locations are accurately maintained
- Contribute to and support the Branch Manager during the annual stock take
- Contribute to weekly stock management meetings, suggest and implement areas for improvement where appropriate
- Lead the team to adhere to all stock management policies and procedures

Applicants must/desirable;
- Hold a full UK driving licence and be able to operate company fleet vehicles
- Must be confident in operating a reach truck/forklift or if the certification is not currently held, be willing to undertake the necessary training course to obtain.

Working Monday - Friday, 7.30am-4.30pm or 8am - 5pm and alternate Saturdays from 8am-12pm.
