Apprentice Early Years Educator Level 3

**JOB TITLE: Early Years Educator Level 3 Apprentice**
**ACCOUNTABLE TO: NURSERY MANAGER**
**REPORTS TO: SENIOR NURSERY NURSE / MENTOR**
**JOB SUMMARY**:To be trained to do the same post as a Nursery Nurse or Nursery Assistant. To contribute to a high quality caring environment for children, this includes creating a warm, friendly and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop emotionally, socially and educationally through individual attention and group activities.
**MAIN DUTIES**:
**Childcare and Education**
- Ensure that children are kept safe and that staff understand, and when necessary follow, Child Protection Procedures.
- Comply with the statutory framework for the EYFS
- Attend college or appointments with tutors and complete assignments on time
**Health and Safety**
- Contribute to the shared responsibility for health, safety and cleanliness throughout the nursery.
- Under supervision, ensure the general cleanliness of the children at all times
- Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Be fully aware of all emergency and security procedures e.g. Fire precautions, security, dropping off and collection of children.
- Operate the highest standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the bedding and nappy changing area and food surface areas.
**Staff**
- Work as a team with other staff members.
- Be responsible for participating in all self-development activities including appraisals, supervisions etc.
**General**
- Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by line management.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Ensure the company’s policies on diversity and equal opportunities are adhered to.
- Understand that as part of training you will be required to move to other parts of the nursery.
- Look upon the nursery as a "whole" where can your help be most utilised, be constantly aware of the needs of children.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
**Essential Criteria**:
- Enthusiasm for working with young children
- An interest in the care, learning and development of young children
- A positive approach to learning and gaining new skills through teamwork and training opportunities.
- Good organisational and planning skills

- Able to work in small teams
- Flexibility
- GCSE 4 or above in Maths and English or willing to work towards
**Desirable**:
A willingness to undertake and have a positive approach to completing training in:

**4. **Level Two Diploma and/or a Level Three Diploma and/or a Level 4 Certificate in Children’s Care, Learning and Development
**5. **Safeguarding Children
**6. **Risk Assessments
**7.** Other relevant courses as advised by your manager
