**Job Title**:Assistant Editor

**Salary**: £25,000 Depending on experience + Benefits

**Location**: Nottingham

**Job Role**: Assistant Editor

The QMJ Group also produce a range of specialist directories including the Directory of Quarries and Quarry Equipment, and the Natural Stone Directory. In addition, the company owns BDS Marketing Research, a market research consultancy specializing in theconstruction and materials and waste sectors.

**Main duties and responsibilities**:

- Collaborate with the editorial team to devise new and original content for the natural stone brand on a weekly basis
- Follow current events and news in the relevant market sectors to help shape content
- Support other QMJ editorial platforms either temporarily or permanently depending on the needs of the business
- Source, research and write industry features, news stories, company reports, project overviews and analysis articles for our magazines and websites
- Interview key industry figures when required
- Occasionally sub and proof other journalists' work, maintaining our high grammatical and factual reputation
- Manage print and online deadlines according to the agreed schedule
- Regularly edit the Homepage and other relevant areas of the website
- Utilise our social media presence to broadcast news and updates to our readership
- Represent QMJ brands at industry events with occasional overnight stays as required
- Source and manage content for regular e-newsletters
- Proofread and sign-off pages for print
- Provide the advertising department with contacts and leads to ensure all commercial opportunities are maximised
- Assist with press releases for our related exhibitions and conferences when required

**About you**:

- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.
- A minimum of one years' experience gained in a B2B editorial environment - a construction, architectural or industrial editorial background is highly desirable
- Driving licence/car
- An organised and professional attitude that prides itself on attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent writing and proof-reading skills
- The ability to work under pressure to ensure all deadlines are met
- Experience with SEO and social media platforms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience of webinars, podcasts, and video editorial highly desirable, but not essential
- Great critical thinking, problem-solving, and time management skills
- Content production experience (this is advantageous but not essential as training can be provided)
