**SALARY**: £18443.20 (£23054.00.10 FTE)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Housekeeper to work in a dynamic environment providing high quality domestic services within the Tamarind Centre which is an 89 bedded medium secure mental health hospital in the Bordesley Green area of Birmingham.

Ideally you will have experience of providing domestic and housekeeping services within an NHS environment and sound understanding of infection prevention and control, COSHH, and current BICS registration.

To work as a member of the Hotel Services/Ward team by contributing to the provision of a comfortable and effective stay for patients. To be responsible for overseeing that the ward is clean and tidy, that patient’s food is delivered correctly, those repairs, maintenance, linen services and consumables are available to contribute to a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere.

At SSL, we work in partnership with Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust (BSMHFT), to deliver facilities management, transport and other support services to over 50 sites across the West Midlands. Our team keeps expanding and since our establishment, in 2012, we have grown rapidly though the acquisition of new sites and services. Responsible for establishing, maintaining and assisting with a programme of curtain changing throughout the ward, in line with SSL/Trust policy.

Responsible for ensuring that following the patient’s discharge, the en-suite bedroom is cleaned and equipped in preparation for the next admission.

Responsible for ordering of consumables and other supplies, ensuring that these are correctly stored, and used in rotation.

Responsible for assisting nursing staff in cleaning medical equipment.

To attend all mandatory and non mandatory training as required.

To be responsible for all patients’ meals, snacks and beverages including special diets, adhering to standards and procedures and training practices for the delivery and service of all meals.

Responsible for ensuring the ward complies with the SSL/Trust Food hygiene policy i.e. fridge temperature and brings to the Clinical Managers attention any non-compliance.

It is everyone’s responsibility to be aware of infection control procedures and to carry out relevant training.

Every member of staff has a responsibility to be aware of and follow at all times, the relevant national and local policy in relation to the safeguarding of children, the safeguarding of vulnerable adults and the control of infection.

Responsible for engaging in the SSL/Trust appraisal process, that identifies your own personal development and training needs.

Responsible for ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times in accordance with the data protection act SSL/Trust policy and good practice.

Responsible for reporting any medical and/or electrical equipment that need repairing and requires PAT testing, and keeping up to date records of reports, defects and follow up action.

Responsible for reporting any instances of Pest control to relevant Supervisors & Hotel Services Manager/ ward.

Responsible for answering telephones in the absence of nursing staff.

Responsible for safeguarding the welfare and safety of staff, patients, visitors and the public, by implementing all policies and procedures relating to security
