Community Engagement Tutor
At Northern Learning Trust we aim to improve the potential and raise the aspiration of people through learning. Much of our work is with vulnerable and disadvantaged people and communities with complex needs. We use informal learning and mentoring to build confidence and skills, and help people find solutions to their problems.
Through our Learning Hives we engage and teach some of the most vulnerable and reluctant adult learners in the region. We do this by delivering a range of colourful and attractive, first steps community learning opportunities, building learner confidence and supporting them to progress to further learning or towards the world of work.
To support us in our mission we are seeking a highly motivated Community Engagement Tutor to deliver our Learning Hive provision from the Pelaw View Centre in Durham. Ideally you will be a fully qualified tutor, with experience in engaging and supporting learners in a range of community settings. However, we’re also keen to hear from applicants who are newly qualified or working towards a teaching qualification at Level 5 or above. You’ll need to be creative and practical as our learning covers a wide range of topics, but most importantly, you will be a sympathetic and supportive teacher, with a genuine desire to help people improve their lives through learning.
We are passionate about the work we do and need a person who understands our values and believes in our mission. In return we offer you the opportunity to join a forward thinking and supportive organisation at an exciting stage in its development. We value our team members and offer flexible working patterns and a friendly, supportive work environment.
