As a Band 3 Therapy Assistant, you will provide essential support to qualified therapists in delivering rehabilitation and therapy services to patients. This role is crucial in assisting with the implementation of therapy programs, carrying out delegated tasks, and supporting patients in achieving their rehabilitation goals. You will work under the supervision and direction of qualified therapists, contributing to the overall delivery of high-quality care within the healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist in Therapy Sessions:

- Support qualified therapists (e.g., physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists) in delivering therapy sessions and rehabilitation programs to patients.
- Prepare therapy rooms, equipment, and materials for therapy sessions, ensuring they are clean, organised, and ready for use.
- Assist patients with mobility exercises, therapeutic activities, and functional tasks as directed by therapists.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients during therapy sessions, promoting their engagement and participation.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, bathing, toileting, and eating, as needed.
- Escort patients to and from therapy sessions, ensuring their safety and comfort during transport.
- Monitor patients' progress and report any changes or concerns to the supervising therapist or nursing staff.
- Foster a positive and supportive environment for patients, respecting their dignity, autonomy, and cultural preferences.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient interactions, therapy sessions, and interventions in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Document patients' functional abilities, progress, and responses to therapy under the guidance of qualified therapists.
- Assist with data collection, outcome measures, and quality improvement initiatives to evaluate the effectiveness of therapy interventions.
- Equipment Maintenance and Inventory:

- Assist with the maintenance, cleaning, and sterilization of therapy equipment and supplies, adhering to infection control protocols.
- Ensure that therapy equipment is in good working condition and report any issues or malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
- Monitor inventory levels of therapy supplies and assist with ordering and restocking as needed.
- Communication and Teamwork:

- Communicate effectively with patients, families, caregivers, and members of the healthcare team, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
- Collaborate with therapists, nurses, healthcare assistants, and other team members to coordinate patient care and optimize outcomes.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and training sessions to enhance knowledge, skills, and teamwork.

Qualifications:

- Previous experience in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting is desirable.
- Basic understanding of therapy principles and techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Compassion, empathy, and patience when working with patients.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and record-keeping purposes.

**Salary**: £12.00-£14.00 per hour
