We are looking for an experienced SLT with specialist knowledge and passion for working with children with autism. The individual will be organised, adaptable and motivated. The role will commence from September 2023- August 2024 with a view to extending the contract permanently.

We are a small, friendly team that are looking to expand to meet the needs of our growing client base. The role will largely involve supporting teaching staff with the implementation of interventions such as Intensive interaction therapy, PECs etc. You will work closely with school SENCos to best meet the needs of the schools.

Working 3 days per week, term time only, the role will be based within schools around the Wakefield area, typically supporting mainstream schools and Autism resource facilities within them. This will mostly be primary but may include some secondary schools.

Working hours will be 8:30-3pm with meetings/clinical supervision/CPD/well-being support commencing one day per week 4pm-5pm virtually (paid) to ensure that our team receive a high standard of care. Additional hours may be required for training.

**Experience/Qualifications**:

- To be a registered member of RCSLT and HCPC.
- To hold a professional Speech and Language Therapy degree or equivalent.
- To work within the RCSLT clinical guidelines and HCPC standards.
- Previous experience of training school staff/ modelling interventions
- Experience in implementing a wide range of approaches in supporting young people with social communication difficulties.
- Fluent in written and spoken English with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear manner to a range of audiences including young people, parents, and professionals.
- A knowledge of Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC), Makaton/BSL, Intensive Interaction, SCERTS and PECS would be beneficial.
- Full UK driving license and use of own transport.

An enhanced DBS check will be required and paid for by The Yorkshire Speechie.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 11 months
Part-time hours: 19 per week

**Salary**: £28.00 per hour
