**EMERGENCY MEDICINE WITH SPECIAL INTEREST IN FRAILTY**

Applications are welcome for the above Fixed Term, full time (40 hours per week) post based in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

This post is in Emergency Medicine and Medicine of the Elderly (50% in each specialty). In addition to provision of Emergency Medicine services, the post will enhance provision of Medicine of the Elderly care in the Emergency Department. This will include contributing to the acute management of frail patients in the Emergency Department and facilitating discharge for suitable patients to community services. The successful applicant will work with existing frailty services to develop the role of a frailty team in the Emergency Department.

Main duties & responsibilities:

- There is 1 x Full Time (10 session) Consultant in Emergency Medicine 12 month locum post based within the Department of Emergency Medicine, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. This is to cover the sabbatical leave of an existing consultant.
- This post is partly funded by Medicine of The Elderly. 50% of the job plan will be dedicated to managing Frailty in the Emergency Department. This will be split between DCC and service development.
- Supporting the delivery of national and local performance and quality standards.
- Contributing to the supervision and training of non-consultant staff, doctors in training, nursing staff, AHPs and undergraduate students from the University of Edinburgh.
- Working closely with colleagues from other specialties and services to ensure the delivery of high quality care throughout the patient journey.
- Maintaining and updating their own knowledge and skills, actively participating in appraisal and revalidation processes.
