**Job Title: Crisis Intervention Worker**
**Hours of work: 30 hours per week**
**Service opening hours: 5 days over 7 days - 5pm-11pm (including weekends)**
**Salary: Circa £19500 pro rata**
**Base: Birmingham**

**The client**:
In partnership with an established, sector leading mental health charity, I am seeking two crisis intervention workers to be based within one of their Birmingham offices.
You will work within a crisis focused service, offering support and guidance to people across Birmingham who are experiencing emotional and psychological distress.

**The Job**:
As a crisis intervention worker, you will be working closely with individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis and/or episodes of psychological/emotional distress.

The main purpose of your role is to assist individuals through appropriate person-centred interventions to be able to address and help de-escalate their immediate crisis experience. You will play a key role in listening to individuals in a crisis. Your role involves focusing, observing, understanding, and responding with empathy, genuineness, respect, acceptance, non-judgement, and sensitivity, whilst working cooperatively as part of a crisis intervention team.

**Key Responsibilities and duties will include**:
" Preventing the escalation of mental health problems
" Preventing unnecessary visits and referrals to secondary mental health services
" Offering timely and appropriate interventions
" Promoting wellbeing and resilience
" Helping to develop self-management recovery strategies and techniques to increase independence, confidence, and self-determination
" Enabling the ability to manage mental distress
" Providing advice, guidance and emotional support, and act as a link to accessing community-based interventions
" Signposting to alternative agencies

**Skills & Experience requirements**:
" Experience in the mental health field, with experience of supporting people to be in control of their lives (This can be in a professional or voluntary capacity)
" Experience of working well within a team
" Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook
" Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
" Empathetic, pro-active and solution focused approach
