**Production Supervisor**

**Location**: Hockley, Birmingham, B18 5AY.
**Salary**: £25,000 - £27,000 dependant on experience plus benefits.
**Contract**:Shifts between the hours of 5:30am - 22.00pm, 40 hours Monday to Sunday (shift).

We are a national manufacturing company with an exciting opportunity for a Production Supervisor to join our team

**Production Supervisor - The Role**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- To motivate and give direction to Team Leaders in producing and maintaining quality based production;
- Supervising all aspects of the Team Leaders and providing additional resource where needed
- To effectively manage the Production and Dispatch operations from the start to end of the product lifecycle.
- To effectively manage the site Hygiene functions
- Taking responsibility for the finished products by monitoring and maintaining quality;
- Putting policies and procedures in place and monitoring their activity for BRC Audit.
- Working with Production Manager re production and technical aspects of the company.
- Dealing with any employee conduct issues at the initial stage
- To negotiate and plan with Team Leaders to ensure sufficient staff cover in all areas at all times;
- Undertake operational duties when required to meet deadlines and/or cover for staff absence;
- Ensuring product quality in all areas: Filling, Baking, Packing etc
- Maintain stocks of materials and their appropriate storage as required working with the Materials Administrator;
- Reviewing training needs and effectiveness of training skills;
- Ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities in all areas.
- Competent in carrying out stock take unassisted in all areas working with Materials Administrator;
- To ensure all production equipment is maintained and serviced appropriately;
- Liaise with all Team Leaders to ensure sufficient work is allocated with the correct usage of equipment Ensure that staff have, and are able to use, correct safety equipment to carry out their duties Liaise with other departments to make sure any issues aredealt with appropriately;
- Aid in the preparation and presentation of samples;
- Ensure all relevant paper work is completed and recorded correctly;
- To use Sage 50 to input Production/Packing information re product and raw materials;
- Provide on the job training and upskilling to new starters and current staff
- Good standard of computer literacy (Word, Excel. Access and Sage 50);
- Ensure hygiene and cleaning requirements are carried out at all times working on line with Cleaning Schedule
- Ensure Health & Safety Policy and Procedures are adhered to by carrying regular checks;
- Identify hazards and evaluate risks in the work place, and areas that need improvement;
- Develop and maintain effective working relationship with your team, your manager and with people outside your team;
- Any other duties requested by the Company that it considers appropriate to your abilities, including duties which would not normally be associated with your job title.

**Performance Management & Quality Control**
- Checking accuracy of the product specification;
- Checking suitability and quality of the materials and all print operations during the production process through to the final quality check and despatch.
- To review and make recommendations for the smooth running of the department.
- Work closely with the Senior Management Team to produce and review individual/team performances on a regular basis.
- Carry out, monitor and verify all Quality Control Procedure sheets to ensure correct completion and manufacture of a safe product and that amount of waste (material, downtime) is accurately recorded;
- Working towards BRC Audit

**Objectives**
- Ensure there is sufficient staff to cover in their nominated areas;
- Train staff up so they are able to work at their full capacity
- Taking responsibility for the team of staff you are managing;
- Manage and work with your team aiming to achieve set targets on a daily/weekly basis;
- To maintain a positive Health and Safety culture and reduce risks;
- To continue to strive to minimize waste in all areas by achieving maximum utilisation of our existing resources. Also, by adopting a responsible attitude to energy conservation by recycling and recognizing the aims of caring for the environment, whether itbe.

**What we need from you**
- Food Science related degree or 3 years supervisor experience.
- HACCP Level 3 qualification
- Mechanically minded with experience working with machinery
- Previous experience working in a Team Management position
- Ability to work in a busy environment and able to work under own initiative
- Experience of working in a food manufacturing environment
