An exciting opportunity is available for an exceptional individual to join our ophthalmic imaging team as a research-based Ophthalmic Science Practitioner.

Your duties will be focused on managing, monitoring, and maintaining a high-quality research imaging service to the Ophthalmology Directorate of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) and other departments and hospitals within MFT (including the Manchester Centre for Genomic Medicine).

Manchester Royal Eye Hospital is the second largest Eye Hospital in the UK and benefits from being part of a major teaching center that has strong ties with The University of Manchester.

We conduct a broad range of research spanning the translational spectrum from basic science to clinical trials on new treatments. We have a strong background in assessing the latest ophthalmic imaging technologies, including adaptive optics.

This post is a fixed term contract for two years, the post is to support specific research studies for the duration of the corresponding projects. The contract end date will be 30/01/2026.

You will work with the team of research coordinators and administrators, consultants, doctors, and ophthalmic scientists to deliver research at MFT.

You will support Manchester NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) activities, a Wellcome Trust funded project (FOVEA study) and NIHR portfolio studies particularly in the areas of Retina, Ophthalmic Genetics and Paediatric Ophthalmology.
