**Purpose**:
Reporting to the HSE Manager, you will use your health and safety knowledge and skills to promote a positive, open, and honest health, safety, and wellbeing culture across the business.
You will work as part of the H&S Team, promoting and developing safe working practices health and safety strategies, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements, reviewing health, safety, environment and welfare policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant health & safety legislation.
You will have experience in risk assessing and CoSHH assessing effectively, working with stakeholders at all levels across the business to maintain our strong safety record.
**Key Accountabilities**:

- Support the business in maintaining compliance with all relevant H&S legislation
- Promoting a positive, open, and honest health and safety culture, championing the companys values, principles, and policies
- Review & complete Risk Assessments and CoSHH Assessments.
- Carry out H&S inductions.
- Issue/check Permit to Work.
- Complete Site Safety inspection and auditing.
- Assist in the writing, implementing, and reviewing Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Recommend/implement safety improvements to reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and other hazards.
- Carry out Health & Safety issues investigation and root causation.
- Lead Safety Champions Team development
- Provide and lead Internal H&S training
- Responsible for organising sufficient First Aid, Fire Marshall and Chemical Spill training and other Health and Safety training
- Liaise with employees to continually improve working environment
- Maintain H&S Records
- Assist in Safety Committee duties

**Knowledge, skills, and experience required**:

- Strong experience in Health & Safety
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent qualified
- Good interpersonal and negotiation skills, with an ability to engage collaboratively with staff at all levels, role-models and champions company values and processes in all situations
- Excellent stakeholder management, proactivity, and accountability.
- Experience of working in an organisation with a strong, open, and honest health and safety culture
- Experience of risk assessing processes in a high-risk environment
- Knowledge in Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.
- Experience in planning and delivering organisational health, safety, and environmental improvements
- Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office.
- A driving licence is essential as the role is multi-site and travel to various locations is required, including Horsham and Redhill.

**Knowledge, skills, and experience desired**:

- ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 experience
- Experience in Laboratory and Production hazards, associated controls and working practices including chemical, biological and radiation safety.
- Experience of Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmosphere Regulation (DSEAR)
- NEBOSH Fire Risk assessment trained
- Hold an Environmental qualification e.g., IEMA Cert.
- Membership of a professional H&S body.

**Internal & External Relationships**:
You will report to the HSE Manager, working alongside members of the H&S team, supporting all departments in the business with a broad range of skills including Engineers, Chemists, Production staff, Scientists, Facilities, statutory and other external bodies.
