Job Solutions Ltd are delighted to be assisting a Local GP with their recruitment for a Full Time, Medical Receptionist to join their friendly team on a Full Time, Permanent basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent communication, telephone and inter-personal skills are essential to this role.
- Commitment to a high standard of patient care and the professional presentation of the Practice.
- An understanding, acceptance, and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.
- Essential to have a good level of computer literacy.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- The post holder cannot be registered at the Practice.
Key Responsibilities
- To provide a highly professional point of contact for patients at all times.
- To make appointments and book patients in when they arrive for an appointment in accordance with the practice appointment system and to provide a helpful and friendly service to patients ensuring the reception area is tidy and welcoming.
- To follow practice procedure regarding letters that arrive at the surgery either externally by post or internally from the hospital.
- To answer telephones promptly ensuring that all in-coming lines are always covered.
- To ensure an efficient service for patients.
- To facilitate communication between patients and the Health Care Team.
- To work with the reception team manager to identify areas of patient services that can be improved and work towards solutions so that improvements can be made, for the benefit of both patients and Practice.
- Good understanding of health & Safety in the workplace
- To assist with the management and implementation of health & safety for staff
- Ensure that patients are signposted to the relevant clinicians.
- To undertake any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Practice.
MAIN DUTIES
- To comply with all relevant practice procedures, regulations and protocols and to maintain confidentiality at all times with particular reference to patient records.
- To liaise with the supervisor and reception manager when required and follow instructions from them when necessary.
- To act as receptionist to a named GP or nursing team.
- To undertake any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Practice.
- To take responsibility for own actions within the scope of the delegated tasks and responsibilities.
- To always work within own limitations and competencies as agreed with reception manager.
- To provide sickness and annual leave cover when required.
Duties
- To provide effective administrative support for the clinical, supervisory and management teams.
- To complete duties effectively within the guidance of protocols.
- Ensure efficiency of surgery appointments and monitor the flow of patients into consulting and treatment rooms.
- Ensure that patients without appointments but who need ‘urgent consultation’ are seen.
- Respond to all queries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors.
- Ensure reception, rooms and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy and restocked as directed by the reception supervisor.
- Ensure appropriate actions are taken to protect patient confidentiality at all times.
- To assist with matters relating to health and safety for staff and patients
- To record and file all paperwork in relation to health & safety for the building.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Full time position to be worked over various days. Early and late shifts will be included once training is completed.
We offer 25 days pro rata annual leave entitlement and public holidays. An NHS pension is also offered.
