Accountabilities:

- Oversight and coordination of the timely collection from origin, loading, inbound delivery and offloading of categorised project plant equipment to the agreed project location
- Proactive troubleshooting transport issues with project team, service suppliers and equipment manufacturers and representing the function at internal and external meetings
- Escalation to Manager & Project team of any actual or potential problems which would adversely affect planned delivery of critical equipment
- Oversight of all shipments within programme, covering Sea (containerised or breakbulk) / Road / Air / AIL / OOG & Barge shipments, including customs clearance where necessary
- Shipping via principal entrance ports Avonmouth, Combwich Port, and others in south of England
- Ensuring shipping and transportation by supplier (DDP contracts) is well planned and managed
- Identification of any scope gaps, and proposal of suitable solutions
- Focal point for programme level logistics arrangements, including working with directly with supply chain
- Monitoring cost effectiveness and performance of any project service suppliers relating to logistics scope, freight bookings, plant hire, movement & temporary storage etc
- Supporting programme teams by advising best practice and methods applicable to future transport arrangements for their contracts
- Determining the most appropriate shipping method, depending on the nature of cargo, and required delivery time, and instructing suppliers accordingly
- Consolidation of collections, shipments, hire of lifting/transport equipment wherever possible to minimise costs
- Ensure comprehensive schedule of rates for logistics service providers is available and visible to project team
- Review and detailed analysis of carrier quotes against contract schedule of rates
- Negotiating (where applicable) with carriers and logistics operators to save time and reduce costs
- Compliance with existing HPC procedures, compliance & ethics relating to the phase of work
- Development and implementation of any required logistics strategies, plan, or process where perceived gaps in arrangements exist
- Anticipation of future requirements in terms of service suppliers, equipment, resources etc
- Development of Programme wide Freight Profile used for decision making and to be shared with key stakeholders
- Review as Subject Matter Expert (SME) the supplier transportation & handling plans and packing, loading / lifting arrangements
- Attendance and reporting shipment status at Logistics Review meetings with other key stakeholders
- To ensure regular and accurate reporting in any specified project system tools (TBA)
- To keep sufficient records of order progress, supplier performance and associated delays etc. to provide MDT with details to support payments/claims etc
- Identification of goods classified as dangerous, review of SDS (Safety Data Sheet) and COSSH
- Supporting the Shipment Authorisation Request (SAR) and the Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN) processes
- Attendance and contribution at Pre-Shipment Gateway Meetings and follow up of any logistics related actions
- To occasionally perform shipment related visits on behalf of NNB at manufacturers premises, including during key loading/unloading operations and acting safely and professionally at all times
- Ensuring equipment and materials delivered to site can be stored safely in conditions per project standards and the supplier’s approved care & maintenance plan
- Maintaining familiarity with Export Control regulations and liaising with authorities whenever required
- Familiarity with latest expectations under Brexit / Importer of record
- Proactive follow up of any project related close out / hotwash / incident reporting / and related contributions to learning reports.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

- Demonstrable knowledge and background in international freight and transport
- Knowledge of the freight types, customs, loading/lifting essential
- Requirement - good shipping industry experience at several major multinationals
- Previous experience in mega scale international Energy projects
- Demonstrable track record of collaborative working within successful project teams
- Flexibility to travel as and when necessary to meet the needs of NNB Gen Co Ltd
- Previous experience on Capital Works projects for Process Plants, preferably from Power, Chemical or Oil and Gas industries
- Relevant College/University education degree, or suitable experience
