SOAS University of London is the leading Higher Education institution in Europe specialising in the study of Asia, Africa and the Near and Middle East. SOAS is moving towards a new model of international partnerships which is responsive to the transnational character of our global challenges.

**About the Department**:
The Governance Team supports the effective functioning, development and enhancement of the governance framework of the University to ensure good governance and decision making and oversees the University’s response to its internal and external governance-related regulatory responsibilities.

**About the Role**:
You will be responsible for supporting a range of committees and groups, as well as operational delivery of risk management and business continuity planning. This includes developing, co-ordinating and monitoring risk registers. You will also be responsible for maintaining the insurance cover for the School and collections.

**Key Tasks include**:
Supporting a range of committees and groups, preparing agendas and minutes and liaising with the Chairs of committees and Board of Trustees
Supporting the Governance restructure following a recent Governance Review
Working with the Senior Management team, Directors of Professional Service and Heads of Department to update Risk Registers
Preparing papers, reports and other analytical documentation to support the School’s risk management processes
Developing and maintaining up to date information on the School’s website and intranet pages
Identifying and implementing changes to policies and procedures to ensure the service continues to meet agreed quality standards, guidelines and procedures.

**About you**:
You will show a commitment to ensuring that the services we provide are safe, effective and well managed through a robust governance framework.

**You will need to demonstrate**:
That you are educated to degree level or have equivalent experience
A solid understanding of risk management and experience of maintaining and updating risk registers or a willingness to learn
Experience of providing timely and comprehensive advice and guidance to others on regulatory, procedural or policy issues
Experience of efficient and effective running of committee meetings, taking minutes and ensuring the committees are run appropriately and in line with terms of reference
Excellent attention to detail and an ability to analyse, interpret, amend and develop diverse sets of data/information
Excellent IT skills (including Word and use of MS Teams)
Excellent communication skills
