**37.5 hours per week - 3 shifts on and 2 shifts off working a rolling rota including evening and weekends**

We are seeking a Support Assistant to join our team based at Victoria Road. Our supported living service provides support for young people aged 16 to 25, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, by encouraging them to develop their skills, and learn to live independently. We have 10 fully furnished en-suite rooms, two emergency bedrooms and a one-bedroom move-on apartment.

We provide a comprehensive induction programme as well as on-going training to develop new and existing skills and encourage progression.

**The role of Support Assistant will include**:

- Providing a high quality, hands-on support service
- Encouraging residents to develop their daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping and being a part of their community
- Encouraging social inclusion and helping residents to build their confidence, resilience and self-esteem
- Working with statutory and non-statutory agencies on behalf of the clients and actively encouraging choice and involvement, or acting as an advocate when required
- Maintaining a safe environment for residents, providing support in accordance with relevant regulations, procedures and practices

**Skills and experiences**:

- Proven experience of working with a similar client group is essential
- A caring, approachable nature and a confident ‘can-do’ attitude
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients, their families and external agencies
- Ability to keep accurate records and clearly communicate relevant information to team members
- Literacy and numeracy equivalent to at least GCSE Grade C English and Mathematics, is essential
- NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards is desirable
