Brighton, United Kingdom 279 University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust Full time

The role will support the deployment of the “A-EQUIP” which provides a continuous improvement process that builds upon personal and professional resilience as well as enhancing quality of care for women and supports preparedness for midwives in appraisal and professional revalidation.

The ultimate aim is that this continuous improvement process of the “A-EQUIP” model will become an intrinsic part of everyone’s job, every day in all parts of the system (NHS England 2016). The post holder will assist UHSussex maternity services in implementing the local model of A-EQUIP - Professional Midwifery Advocacy model using elements of the guidance issued by NHS England in April 2017.

A-EQUIP is an acronym for advocating for education and quality improvement. The A-EQUIP model is made up of four distinct functions: normative, restorative, personal action for quality improvement and education and development.

The model supports a continuous improvement process that builds personal and professional resilience, enhances quality of care and supports preparedness for appraisal and professional revalidation. The ultimate aim of using the A-EQUIP model is that through staff empowerment and development, action to improve quality of care becomes an intrinsic part of everyone’s job, every day in all parts of the system.

With the help of midwives, the Local Supervising Authority national taskforce and the projects Editorial Board, ‘A-EQUIP Operational Guidance’ has been developed.

Working as a part of an effective, cohesive multi-disciplinary team; breaking down barriers between midwives, obstetricians and other professionals to deliver safe and personalised care for families.

Join us at UHSussex, every day is different, you can be the change, better never stops

Our mission is summed up by our ‘where better never stops’ motto and no matter the role at UHSussex, you will play a part in driving us forwards and in improving the lives of patients across Sussex. We treat our patients and staff with the same compassion and empathy we expect for ourselves. We’re here for them when they need us, and we go above and beyond to meet their needs. This can be seen in our wellbeing programme for staff which is extensive and designed to support you when you need it because we know that to look after others we must first look after ourselves.
