**Job summary**:
The Business Support Officer will work closely with the rest of the Executive team, Commercial Policy internal teams, the Cabinet Office finance team and other GCF central teams. The work can be fast-paced and the job holder will play a key role in supporting the sound running of the Director’s Executive Office.

Commercial policy is a key component of the Government’s post-EU Exit and economic recovery work programme. Cabinet Office leads for the UK Government on commercial policy, including reforming the UK’s legal framework for public procurement. This is an exciting opportunity to take on an important role supporting the senior leadership team and wider policy team, shaping the UK’s future landscape for public sector procurement.

Working alongside another Business Support Officer, you will support the Director and three Deputy Directors across the programme.

This is a very friendly team, working across many locations. This role provides a great opportunity to springboard into a career in Government, especially if you are interested in policy and commercial. This role may require some travel to London (if based in Norwich).

**Job description**:
**Responsibilities**
- Provide professional, timely and effective day-to-day management of the Directors’ diaries, including organising internal and external meetings/calls.
- Organise and plan domestic and international travel arrangements as required, ensuring value for money.
- Build and maintain effective relationships across the Department’s Private Offices, with departmental officials and broader cross-government stakeholders.
- Assist the Business Manager in tracking briefings, agendas, correspondence and other work, ensuring commissioned material is received on time.
- Assist the Business Manager with running of the GCF Central Teams Business Network (comprising business support staff across the GCF).
- Provide administrative help on the processes that support the whole directorate, for example on budgets and tracking spending.
- Carry out additional support tasks required for the effective running of the Directors/Deputy Directors Private Office
- Lead on supporting a blind Deputy Director, including but not limited to, reviewing and formatting documents, reviewing hand written information, reading out of calendar appointments during diary meetings, guiding whilst visiting unfamiliar offices/working environments and other admin assistance.

- Strong organisation skills, attention to detail, ability to manage conflict/urgent tasks and manage expectations. The ability to remain professional whilst working and delivering at pace
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate information and produce high quality written work
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders, demonstrating an ability to engage effectively and influence others
- Demonstrable experience of using your own initiative and working independently as well as being a strong ‘team player’ to provide quality services and outcomes
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
- Ability to think practically and present solutions
- Experience with a range of Google and Microsoft Office products.

**Desirable Criteria**
- Experience of working with financial systems
- Experience of working in a function within the Civil Service
