Story Keeper

We are looking for individuals with strong performance skills for the role of a Storyteller in the magical Village of Lilidorei, where Christmas is renowned year-round. Our Storytellers must be able to engage crowds as a one-person show, helping the stories they tell come to life for the audience, and involving onlookers, specifically children, in the telling.

Interview/audition will include performing a one minute monologue of your choice. Tell us a funny story As well as a possible cold read.

Note: Position does not start until mid March to early April.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Scripted performance and audience interactions. Performing four to six shows of over 20 minutes in duration daily
- Memorising and performing multiple scripts, original stories surrounding the Village of Lilidorei and its inhabitants. New scripts to be added regularly.
- Responsible time self-management. Actors will be required to keep their own time and be dressed and on stage for each performance, fully prepared.
- Capable of being outdoors for sustained periods of time. Lilidorei is a completely outside attraction and will be open and operating rain or shine.
- Guide audiences through stories where their suggestions and additions help to form the story itself
- Perform any other duties as requested by the Head of Play or other member of the management team.

**Person Specification**

The successful applicant will have:

- An outgoing, charismatic, and engaging stage presence
- Strong performance background and experience. Ability to captivate and hold the attention of an audience as a one-person show.
- Ability to improvise and develop stories and performances. A large part of the show will be guest participation.
- Ability to be kindly authoritative, as the role will be interacting with and, in many cases, guiding groups of children in telling and creating stories.
- Not required, but a plus: Any form of Creative skills such as musical instrument ability, juggling, drawing or sketching abilities, dance experience, etc.
- Ability to problem solve and find creative solutions for often complex issues.
- Ability to identify problems or potential issues and provide constructive feedback.
- Weekend and holiday availability is essential, as these will be the busy times for Lilidorei.
- Ability to work safely in the parameters of the provided risk assessments.
