Specialist industrial manufacturing company in Birmingham requires a Water Treatment Plant Manager with Chemical / Chemistry background.

The Water Effluent Treatment Plant Manager will;
- Be accountable for both individual and departmental Safety and Environmental performance.
- Oversee the day-to-day activities relating to incoming water management, effluent discharge, chemical ordering, and equipment maintenance.
- Working closely with both the Operations Manager and the Engineering Manager, and as a member of the senior site team, ensure Quality assurance, good cost control of additives and deliver site compliance requirements throughout the department as well asacting as a key member of the call out team for any Operational problems.
- Become the site specialist for all activities related to water and effluent and in doing so keep the site at the forefront of related technologies.

Essential:

- Degree or other relevant qualification in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering
- Previous management experience from similar environment
- Lean Six Sigma / Continuous Improvement training
- Control Water Treatment - Understands process of water treatment
- Process Technology - Understand Gas and Fluid systems
- Use of biogas as fuel
- Trade effluent
- Contract management, Operations and Plant Control
- DSEAR trained
- Anaerobic digestion, Good care of bacteriaBiogas, Treatment processes, Compliance, MCerts.

Desirable experience:
Hours Monday - Friday 8.00 - 4.30 - flexibility required

Water Treatment Plant Manager - Duties & Responsibilities;
- Accountable for monitoring, reporting, analysing, and acting on chemical efficiencies to ensure mill operates at optimal cost for agreed quality levels
- Plan, organise, and direct all phases of the mill water system and the effluent treatment process including the Krofta
- Conduct feasibility studies into, and make suggestions for, product development within the Technical, Quality and Environmental operational framework and to act as site liaison for any Group working parties relating to these areas
- Inspect the operation of the water treatment plant to ensure compliance with standards and proper operation, ensure equipment are properly maintained, ensure proper use of chemicals and dosage through cooperation with the person responsible for chemicalprocurement
- Prepare, submit, and maintain accurate reports and records on water consumption and water treatment plant operations for the Daily/Weekly/Monthly figures and the Quarterly Group Sustainability reports.
- Carry out monitoring and control of all aspects of incoming water and effluent treatment, ensuring mill operates at optimal cost whilst remaining within statutory compliance
- Direct and supervise the work of personnel involved in maintaining and repairing water treatment equipment and testing water samples, instruct and train personnel in correct methods and procedures, establish work priorities, monitor work in progress; ensureworkers follow safe practices and departmental policies and procedures; evaluate and review employee performance
- To oversee and develop HSE standards within the Dept, producing an annual action plan in support in of, and in line with, the Company requirements
- Provide on call assistance on a rota basis
- When requested, to be available for meetings/projects/working away, for short periods of time, which may include overnight trips
