- To carry out duties to ensure the smooth running of clinics in the child development centre.
- To deliver specific nursing interventions, social and play tasks.
- The post-holder will also be expected to undertake some clerical duties.
- To act under direction of qualified professionals.
- Work alongside other Child Development Centre (CDC) staff to provide both a quality and child friendly service.

1. To deliver care to patients, carers and their families adhering to the philosophy of family centred care.
2. To use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues to progress their care. This may include patients who have cognitive impairment or difficulty communicating.
3. To act as a chaperone for vulnerable children and young people as per Chaperone policy.
4. Promote the health, comfort, dignity, privacy and quality of life for children and young people. To empathise with the patient and carer. To be sensitive to individual patient needs, expectations and cultural beliefs.
5. To provide distraction and assist in helping children and young people with their coping strategies undergoing any procedures that they may find distressing.
6. Keeping the consultation and assessment rooms and other areas used by the children, young people and their families, or used by the staff on behalf of the patient, clean and orderly. Liaise with estate services with regard to cleaning.
7. Ensure first line resuscitation equipment maintained in line with trust policy.
8. Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment, disposing of clinical waste, rubbish and soiled linen appropriately and in the preparation of examination areas.
9. To carry out administrative duties as required e.g. photocopying / faxing / filling out lab forms / checking stationary stocks.
10. To ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard.
11. Develop and expand caring relationships with children, young people and their families through the use of appropriate communication and interpersonal skills as a member of CDC services.
12. To liaise and communicate effectively with members of the CDC team as well as the children’s community nurses and other clinicians using CDC.
13. To maintain good communication with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, via face-to-face meetings and virtual meeting platforms.
14. Attend staff meetings and any other relevant meetings as requested.
15. Assist and facilitate in the promotion of good working relationships within the team and the wider context of inter-agency working.
