**Job description**:
This is a great opportunity to join our team as a Field Interviewer working for the Office for National Statistics. As a Field Interviewer carrying out official surveys you will be helping to inform Government about the state of the nation.

This role will be a mix of visiting sampled addresses to collect household contact information and to encourage them to complete surveys online or over the phone, as well as interviewing respondents in their homes.

We have vacancies in the following locations; Inverness, Forfar / Montrose / Arbroath, Aberdeen, Ayr / Troon / Kilmarnock, Stranraer / Girvan, Glasgow; you must select one location preference. Roles are offered in merit order and if the highest scorer and not placed onto a reserve list you will be offered and expected to accept a role in your selected location preference.

You will be home based. You are required to work within a 40 mile radius (approx) of allocated location.Your work will be allocated to ensure that you can travel and complete your work within your contracted hours in this area. Therefore you need to consider how you will be able to achieve this based on your home location in comparison to your chosen location preference. If you are unable to achieve this your offer will be withdrawn.

This role comes with flexible working hours that we hope will meet your needs as well as ours. You will be employed on a 1144 hours annualised contract which is broadly equivalent to 22 hours work per week.

To ensure that we reach respondents, interviews will need to be conducted between the hours of 09:00 - 20:00 and there is a potential for admin and travel time outside of these hours.

Interviewers will need to work across mornings, afternoons, and evenings and are contracted to work Monday to Saturday, working on Saturdays if required.

**What we are we looking for?**

We are looking for individuals who have a friendly, outgoing personality and the confidence to approach and converse with a wide selection of people either via phone or face to face. You will need to have excellent communication skills to be the face of ONS and, where needed, to persuade any reluctant member of the public to take part in our surveys and to be interviewed.

You will also be responsible for planning, organising and managing your own work loads, we will provide full training and support to help you with this.

- Be able to transport and carry equipment such a laptop and survey materials with you, on occasion walk between addresses and navigate stairs when out in the field.
- Work approximately within 40 miles from the advertised location.
- Interviews will need to be conducted between the hours of 09:00 - 20:00. Hours will need to be split evenly across mornings, afternoons, and evenings, with flexibility to work on Saturdays if required.
- Experience of using a laptop and a smartphone.
- To be self-discip
