Acorn is currently seeking a Stores and Despatch Operative on behalf of their client. This company is looking for someone to control the receipt, storage, and despatch of raw materials, components, finished doors, flashings, and ancillaries, ensuring that the product is delivered on time in full; the product quality exceeds customers' expectations; and costs are controlled within budget.

Role responsibilities:

- Report any potential issues which might impact on our ability to achieve the production or despatch targets for the day promptly to the Production Supervisor or Production Manager
- Train other team members to carry out stores and despatch tasks safely, and to the required quality standards, as requested by the Production Manager
- Ensure that your workplace is maintained in a safe and tidy condition throughout the working day, and particularly at the end of each shift
- Carry out forklift checks daily
- Report any problems with the facilities that may have an impact on the team's ability to meet output targets. Suggest improvements to the equipment or plant layout that would improve the effectiveness or productivity of the processes

Goods inwards:

- Safe unloading of materials and consumables, ensure materials are clearly identified, and stored safely and securely in the appropriate place and booked into the Epicor system accurately
- Confirm that the goods received are in good condition, match the supplier's documentation, and what was expected, and notify the Purchasing team of any discrepancies promptly
- Record the quantity received accurately and promptly in the Epicor ERP system

Stock management:

- Carry out cycle counts regularly. Participate in month end stock counts as requested
- Report discrepancies between the quantity found in stock and the quantity shown on the Epicor system to the Purchasing team promptly
- Request replenishment of Kanban stock items as soon as their stocks fall below the trigger point
- Record issues of any materials not included on the job pick list into the Epicor system
- Report damaged goods to the purchasing team
- Count consumables weekly and report shortages to the purchasing team

Kitting:

- Print off job pick lists daily
- Pick materials and place in the kitting boxes, ensuring the materials are labelled accurately, deliver kits to the assembly line
- Report shortages or discrepancies promptly to the ERP/MRP team

Finished goods:

- Ensure finished goods are packed securely and stored efficiently so that product is clearly identifiable and protected from damage
- Ensure that the yard is maintained in a clean and safe condition, with materials clearly labelled and efficiently stored
- Ensure that the steel storage warehouse is kept clean, tidy and devoid of obstructions in the gangways
- Ensure that the steel is rotated so that the oldest is nearest top of the factory for ease of picking by the turret operator

Transport and despatch:

- Print the sales order pick lists daily
- Wrap finished goods in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and Audit with I-Auditor system to ensure accuracy of shipment
- Load wagons safely, to ensure the goods are not damaged in transit

Other duties:

- Ensure that waste has been correctly segregated in accordance with the company's environmental policy
- Ensure internal bins are emptied regularly into the correct skips
- Liaise with our approved waste contractors for the emptying of skips
- Ensure that the roads approaching the site are cleaned following a skip exchange and any loose debris is swept up
- Participate in stock counts as requested

Key skills:

- Excellent communication
- Strong organisational skills
- Knowledge of all Microsoft office packages ie. excel, word, outlook, powerpoint
- Attention to detail
- Time management
- Full FLT License is essential
- Team Player
