Due to the creation of a new Out of Hours Service for adults with Learning Disabilities, we have 2 vacancies for band 6 Specialist Practitioners, the posts are open to RNLD Nurses or Occupational Therapists with extensive Learning Disabilities experience.

The aim of the service is to support people with a learning disability in the community who may be experiencing a mental health crisis or have complex needs, in order to avoid inappropriate hospital admission, placement breakdown and risk of contact with the criminal justice service.

Applicants will need to demonstrate positivity and commitment to provide the best standard of care and promote a high quality of life for people with learning disabilities across Barnsley, Calderdale, Kirklees & Wakefield districts. We seek confident, values-led clinicians who can demonstrate autonomous clinical decision making with service users presenting with a range of complex needs. Experience of multi-disciplinary working, positive behavioral support model and delivering a crisis response in the community would be highly valued.

The hours of the service are Mon-Sun 20:00-08:00 and Sat/Sun 08:00-20:00, you will be required to complete the Positive Behavioral Support Training and any other CPD training you may find of benefit to your practice.
