The Improvement Service (IS) is a publicly funded company limited by guarantee. We exist to support councils and their partners to improve the health, quality of life and opportunities of all Scottish people through community leadership, strong local governance and the delivery of high quality, efficient local services. The overall aim of the Shaping Places for Wellbeing programme is to improve Scotland’s wellbeing by reducing the significant inequality in the health of its people while addressing the health of our planet.

Supporting local communities, local health boards and their partners to work and plan together, and with communities, the programme will establish new ways of working across national and local, and sectoral and disciplinary boundaries. It will invest in support for collaborating on the links between place and public health as part of the whole system approach to delivering Scotland’s public health priorities.

You will be experienced in project working and comfortable with monitoring and reporting on outcomes, outputs and budgets.

You will support the public health system and local government in system change to deliver the Place and Wellbeing Outcomes using place-based approaches. Your work will support the delivery of national ambitions such as Scotland’s National Performance Outcomes, Public Health Priorities and net zero emission targets linking approaches such the Christie Commission Recommendations, the Place Principle and 20 minute neighbourhood local living.
