Welfare Reform Advisor

Wells, United Kingdom Aster Group Full time

Do you feel that you have great customer service skills and are able to provide advice in a supportive way? We have an opportunity to join our Welfare Reform team as an Advisor supporting and advising customers in respect of their Universal Credit.

**What you’ll be doing**

You will be providing advice to customers as they move onto Universal Credit, ensuring that it’s accurate and provided in a timely manner to support their needs. You’ll be responsible for the advice given from start to finish but will have your team members around you to support with those more complex cases.

You will have your own caseload, so you’ll naturally be very organised and you’ll get job satisfaction from seeing a case through to the end.

**About you**

As you can imagine, this role requires someone who is experienced in both giving advice and managing administration. As mentioned you will have strong organisation skills, with great attention to detail and you’ll enjoy seeing tasks through to the end.

Ideally you will have some experience of the benefit system, including Universal Credit, which will support the training we will be able to offer.

You’ll be confident in your communication skills and will be happy to adapt your message to suit your audience, ensuring understanding along the way.

You will be confident in your record keeping, with the ability to follow a process thoroughly.

The role is likely to require you to attend the office one day per week, with our Somerset offices being based in Wells and Frome. You’ll be able to work from home during the rest of the week if you wish or split your time between home and the office. To support your induction initially you will spend more time with team members in the office.

**What’s in it for me**

We invest in our colleagues because we know if they have a better day at work, the service our customers receive will be better. The Aster Offer is our offer to our colleagues to ensure they have a great day at work and includes things like:

- Flexible working - whilst some roles need to be carried out in a specific place at a specific time, where possible we encourage our colleagues to work to their own schedule at a location that suits them, their team and our business’ needs
- A focus on colleague wellbeing - workshops, an employee assistance programme offering counselling and support, mental health training and a health cash plan
- We invest in colleagues’ careers and development through our leader and colleague development frameworks
- Defined Contribution Pension and attached life assurance
- Volunteering hours available to all colleagues to enable them to give back
- Savings at cinemas, gyms, holidays, days out, various shops and eateries and lots more
- Enhanced leave
- We celebrate colleagues who go above and beyond with a range of personalised recognition initiatives, and monthly and annual awards.

**Ready to apply?**

To apply, please use information provided in the advert and role profile to let us know why you’d be good for the job. Please submit a copy of your up-to-date CV along with a supporting statement.

We create an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity and believe that creating an environment where everyone, from any background, can do their best work is the right thing to do.
