Due to the on-going roll out of 111 across Wales we, at the Welsh Ambulance Service, are now recruiting Registered Dental Nurses at our 111/NHS Direct Wales Clinical Contact Centre based at Thanet House, Swansea.
As a predominantly Out of Hours Service you will be expected to work a variety of shifts including evenings weekends and Bank Holidays to meet service requirements.
The post holder may be required to work at any of the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust sites/offices in line with service needs. To undertake any other tasks/duties as requested by your line manager.
The post holder must at all times carry out his/her responsibilities with due regard to the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust policies and procedures in particular Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, Confidentiality and Data protection Act.
Induction training will be full time for 4 weeks, office hours for the first month and then a variable shift pattern until training completes.
- Undertake dental triage utilising the clinical software system ensuring that documentation is reflective of the service user’s episode of care.
- Provide concise and relevant advice to callers with dental symptoms, providing information to enable access of relevant and appropriate (health Board) services to meet the callers needs.
- Undertake intensive induction training programme and continually update and improve skills.
- Share best practice and knowledge within the dental team identifying sources of information.
- Ensure ongoing personal and professional development and participate in personal development reviews.
- To inform the Operational Senior Clinical Advisor or Call Handler Co-ordinator and Team Leader of any issue affecting service delivery, at the time the issue is highlighted.

**Job Summary/Job Purpose**:
will provide a dental triage service to the public utilising a clinical decision software system, advising callers of the most appropriate outcome and referring to other services as required.

- Actively participate in the continuous quality improvement audit process including self-review.

- Reflect the diversity of needs in healthcare communities by utilising all available resources to facilitate access to the service where there are barriers to communication and understanding, e.g., text phone, interpretation services.
