The Role

You will be expected to contribute to deliver research-led modules on aspects of Public History at undergraduate and postgraduate level. You will need to demonstrate a track record or the potential to develop a track record of high-quality teaching within a higher education environment, as well as experience of having effective administration capabilities. You should have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate effectively and engagingly to students, staff and external audiences. You will be able to work within a diverse teaching and research environment.

You also must be able to demonstrate (through formal or informal actions) a commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and widening participation in your spheres of work.

Key Accountabilities
- Deliver high quality teaching and learning materials, resources and activities to undergraduate and postgraduate taught students, in both solo and team taught modules in line with School and Faculty teaching objectives and timetable requirements
- Supervise undergraduate and taught postgraduate students, as required
- Contribute to the delivery, planning, design and development of modules and programmes to improve teaching across the School and Faculty
- Evaluate own practice and undertake continuing professional development in teaching
- Plan, organise and carry out the work programme for own research, to ensure that teaching may be informed by new knowledge, insight and impactful innovation
- Initiate or contribute to interdisciplinary collaborations in research to maximise the benefits for the School, Faculty and University
- Participate in organised programmes of outreach/public engagement and impact development, as appropriate
- Promote the University’s values in relation to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and support widening access to our programmes and facilities to people who have historically had little involvement in universities
- Undertake a range of administrative tasks to support teaching, and/or research, and/or engagement
- Take responsibility for contributing to management or administrative role as appropriate to a Lecturer
- Contribute to the wider work of the School, Faculty and University through input to project teams, working groups and key committees
- Fulfill other tasks appropriate to the level of Lecturer as required by the Head of School
- Comply with University policies, including financial regulations, equal opportunities policy, Health & Safety policy, promoting race equality policy, information systems security policy, data security, intellectual property rights and safeguarding policies
- Engage in personal, professional and career development, to enhance both specialist and transferable skills in accordance with desired career trajectory

- Conducting research in the field, demonstrating international standards of excellence in terms of originality, significance and rigour
- Ability to assess and evaluate concepts and theories, develop original solutions, use advanced and innovative research methodologies, and communicate complex ideas with clarity in academic, professional and public contexts
- Experience in, or demonstrable potential for, impact in scholarship and engaging with external stakeholders
- Experience in high quality research-led teaching, enthusiastic, reflective and creative pedagogy; experience in student experience and wellbeing issues; engagement with curriculum development/design and pedagogical innovation
- Experience to lead large modules with a dimension of imparting historical and research methods
- Experience of design and delivery in Technology Enhanced Learning, with demonstrable benefit to student learning outcomes and the student experience (desirable)
