**The opportunity**
The Health & Safety Officer (North) will work for the Head of Health & Safety and with operational teams for Northern Sites. The role will also require the occasional travel and cover in other regions, dependent on business need. The role requires extensive collaboration with people of all departments and with external interested parties.

Global Ardour Recycling Limited are a national recycling and waste management business, operating sites nationwide to offer services to recycle scrap metal, scrap cars and much more. **Key Responsibilities**:
- Providing front line support to all sites in the Northern region
- Forging strong relationships with site managers and supervisors
- Driving continuous improvement in H&S delivery both on sites and within the management system
- Acting as competent advisor for queries and support project delivery
- Undertaking audits and other assurance activities, and supporting local teams to deliver required remedial actions where identified
- Work within the wider SHEQ & compliance function in support of business wide improvements
- Support sites with contractor management including RA/MS reviews and permit to work management (where required)
- Investigation of incidents and high potential near misses
- Support and deliver risk assessment development and review
- Develop and review “safe working procedures” to integrate risk assessment actions into operational processes
- Support wider delivery of assurance activities for environmental compliance where required
- Maintain strong communication with all internal stakeholders holding periodic H&S forums within region
Health and Safety professional with a track record of working alongside operational teams and delivering improvements in safety managements systems in the recycling and waste or comparable high-risk industry.
- NEBOSH or equivalent qualification
- Full UK Drivers’ License with access to own vehicle
