**Introduction**

Pinsent Masons Pension Services (PMPS) is the trading name for Trustee Solutions Limited (TSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of international law firm Pinsent Masons LLP. These companies have long-standing reputations rooted in their deep understanding of the sectors and geographies in which their clients operate.

PMPS provides consultancy services to its clients including scheme management, risk management, project management and procurement. TSL operates as a professional independent trustee to defined benefit, defined contribution and commercial group life master trusts.

**Purpose of the role**

To provide pension consultancy services described above, working together with the PMPS team and the wider Pensions Group, and to provide management support to the trustee directors of TSL.

**Main Duties & Responsibilities**

**Senior Consultant responsibilities**:

- **Client and adviser relationships**_
- Taking responsibility for leading on client relationships when providing scheme management and project management services to ensure PMPS becomes and remains a trusted adviser.
- Leading regular client relationship calls and meetings to build and maintain client relationships.
- Taking responsibility for leading on adviser relationships, building and maintaining those relationships for PMPS, the wider Pensions Group and our clients
- **Scheme management**_
- Taking ownership of all aspects of scheme management for specific clients. Co-ordinating all scheme management work, ensuring it is undertaken at the appropriate level to aid profitability. Working with other PMPS team members to provide our clients with excellent service.
- Leading the preparation of meeting agendas and board papers for trustee, committee and project meetings. Co-ordinating with the PMPS team and client advisers to prepare meeting packs within agreed timeframes for circulation to all parties before meetings.
- Organising, attending and running trustee, committee and project meetings. Leading on presentation of scheme management and governance issues, preparing and issuing draft and final minutes.
- Following up on outstanding actions arising from meetings, keeping advisers to agreed timetables, monitoring and influencing the service delivery of advisers.
- Organising and leading on trustee training.
- Supporting TSL trustee directors on all aspects of running pension arrangements for which TSL is trustee.
- **Taking responsibility for the following**:

- running client mailboxes, taking and distributing work from them
- helping to ensure that employer and trustee clients meet legal and compliance requirements
- maintaining and recommending internal controls and scheme policies to enable trustees to meet the Pension Regulator's requirements
- preparation of scheme business plans, annual planners, risk registers, trustee training etc. to reflect routine matters and special project/activities during the year, and ensuring delivery of those matters within the agreed timetables
- preparation of and maintenance of scheme budgets and arranging payment of scheme fees and expenses
- managing member complaints with advisers, trustees and members, including those from the scheme internal dispute resolution procedure
- managing trustee discretion cases to ensure trustees have appropriate information on which to use their discretion
- running member nominated trustee selection arrangements and elections
- project management of regular projects e.g. report and accounts, actuarial valuations, investment strategy reviews, and also special projects as agreed
- preparation of communication materials and compliance with disclosure of information requirements to members
- Delegating to and supervising consultants, pension officers and paralegals.
- **Group life and excepted group life scheme administration**_

Having a good understanding of how group life and excepted group life arrangements run to help with the administration of group life and excepted group life arrangements, which includes:

- Running the client mailbox and work distribution to paralegals
- Picking up death in service cases and working with others to bring recommendations to trustee directors to make a decision on payment
- Arranging payment
- **Project management**_

Taking responsibility for managing projects, working with partners and supervising PMPS team members to bring projects in on time and in budget. Responsibilities include:

- preparation of and maintaining project plans
- attending project meetings and calls
- picking up project actions and ensuring actions of advisers are completed within agreed timeframes for the project
- managing project budgets
- **Business development**_

Working with partners and other Senior Consultants on new business campaigns including:

- initiating and pitching for new business
- preparation of materials for new products
- attending conferences and webinars to build personal and PMPS brand
